As America’s second two-seat sports/muscle car, AMC’s AMX was a scene stealer, especially in its iconic Big Bad paint colors. We told the heartwarming story of Mel Valentine’s ’69 AMX in our May (), with his Big Bad Orange car splashed across the cover. This four-speed, 315-hp, then-37,000-mile original, unrestored AMC was bought new by Mel just before he married Barb, and after his untimely passing, it remained a cherished symbol for her, their children, and grandchildren. It’s the perfect car to model in 1:18-scale as part of our cover car series by the experts at AutoWorld. This collectible, item AMM1170, features a detailed undercarriage, opening trunk, hood (check out the accurate-looking 390 V-8 with tiny legible decals) and doors (the detailed interior sports flock carpeting and bright metal-look details). Limited to 1,002 pieces, it’s a great tribute to Mel’s passion, and sure to please AMX fans.
