Eight days after surgery, Mark’s doctor removed his feeding tube, giving him the ability to eat solid food. Almost immediately, a stranger entered the hospital room, asking if Mark wanted to receive communion. With his doctor’s reassurance, Mark accepted the offer. “It provided a lot of hope,” he says. Now cancer-free, Mark shares that hope with current esophageal cancer patients by volunteering as a patient advocate at Memorial.
