COULD GAMES PREDICT THE FUTURE?

Prophecy is a theme that has been explored periodically throughout the history of Games. This is not a surprise, given the inquisitive and playful nature of the staff and the creative enthusiasm of over half a million loyal readers. Several contests gave participants a chance to make short-term predictions for the year that lay ahead. A 1982 logic puzzle tried to predict the results of the 1990 Major League Baseball standings. A 1986 review of a tourist attraction told of futuristic space travel in the not-too-distant future. But now that it is the future, let’s examine six predictions to see how clear those armchair psychics’ crystal balls were over the last four decades.
