The Order: 1886

Developer Ready At Dawn Publisher SCE Format PS4 Release 2015

The Order: 1886 begins with an effective piece of foreshadowing. Our head is submerged in water, the words of our torturers muffled amid the swirling bubbles. We see their hardy, Victorian faces – two prison guards acting in the name of the government – before a button prompt appears on screen. We press Triangle and a flurry of action unfolds: a punch and a sharp object to the neck of one interrogator before we hammer X to drown the other. Justice, of sorts. The camera snaps to thirdperson, sticking tightly to our broken body. As we exit the torture chamber into the corridors of the Westminster catacombs, all we can do is move forward, our actions hamstrung by circumstance.

With the prologue over, a date flashes onscreen as we gaze out over a smog-filled London. “The Twelfth Day of October, 1886,” it proclaims – a full in-game month before the is building to our capture and escape. There is only one way this story can go.
