Will the atmosphere be electric at Stoneleigh on March 7, or will diesel gatecrash the party?

NAMEPLATE Anti-Aircraft Command from SR Pacific No. 34049 may be set to grab the spotlight in Great Central Railwayana’s sale on March 7, as reported on news page 23 of this issue, but the auction house’s team is also cautiously optimistic of success with a plate from an entirely different era and class of locomotive traction.

It is from Metropolitan Railway No. 7, an electric Bo-Bo built in 1922 by Metropolitan-Vickers that operated for four decades on the City and and No. 12 – were saved for preservation.
