or more than 100 years the rules remained largely unaltered. The latest iteration – The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (IRPCS or ColRegs) – was in 1972. There have, of course, been further amendments addressing, among other things, the use of radar and conduct in traffic separation schemes (TSS). So far there is no mention of VHF or AIS for collision avoidance.
