The wonderful British summer that many of us experienced undoubtedly softened the transitional blow into autumn but as the grim winter conditions take hold, now is a good time to start planning the great escape and sign up for a Caribbean charter holiday.
Winter sun sailing in the Caribbean is now one of the preferred destinations for yacht charter not least because of the guaranteed climate, which offers consistent tropical temperatures, good sailing winds, and some of the most spectacular cruising grounds in the world. The time to go is December to April to avoid the hurricane season.
Another reason why the Caribbean has become so popular over the last decade is the relative ease of access. Destinations such as Antigua, Grenada and St Lucia have regular non-stop 8-10 hour flights from the UK, while even with changes to places like the British Virgin Islands or the US Virgin Islands, or St Maarten, the total flight time is only around 12-14 hours.
