Many people, including those living here, do not realise that we in the Blue Mountains live in the oldest land on earth. When the Grand Canyon in Arizona was just a few centimetres deep, the dissected sandstone plateau which is the Blue Mountains looked much as it does today. Aboriginal peoples lived here during the last Ice Age (22,000 years ago), hunting and performing their rituals.
