LAWS OF ATTRACTION

WAS 2019 your first year watching rugby? Then you are in the rare position of not yet having needed to learn a new set of laws. If the laws of football are carved in stone, the laws of rugby are written on flimsy tracing paper, liable to be torn up at any moment.

The laws of rugby change yearly. Not always drastically but enough that teams are forced to adapt. The changes might cause frustration and confusion for amateurs who turn out on a Saturday – but they also provide an opportunity. If you can adapt quickly, you gain an advantage over your less flexible rivals.

When laws change, the tactics of the game change.

This provides a chance for a team to out-think their opponents and gain an advantage. Although we don’t know exactly what the new laws might be, you can guarantee that teams are already trying to work out how to beat them.
