1 SUNSEEKER SUPERBOAT UNLEASHED
It has taken its time coming but after years of speculation Sunseeker has revealed its first proper performance boat in over a decade.
Sunseeker describes the Hawk 38 as its ‘most technically advanced performance boat ever’ and with a claimed top speed of 62 knots (70mph), it’s set to be one of its fastest as well.
The brand new triple-stepped hull has been designed by Sunseeker in partnership with Italian racing legend Fabio Buzzi, reviving the link first forged 18 years ago with the 65-knot Sunseeker XS 2000. FB Design will also build the hull and deck before shipping it to the UK for fit out at race boat specialists Supermarine Powerboats in Lymington.
Power comes from a pair of 400hp supercharged straight six Mercury R400 outboard engines, although Yamaha’s 425hp XTO V8 outboards will also be an option. The hull was designed with outboard power in mind, partly for performance and efficiency reasons but also to make maintenance as simple as possible. There are no through-hull fittings below the waterline to worry about and no cramped engine bay eating up hull space, just bucketfuls of power in a clean, quiet, light and reliable package.
