Could you please put me in touch with the owner of the Jeanneau NC9 who had applied Hempel Silic One fouling release to his boat. Before I bought my current Fairline Targa 38, I surveyed and sea trialled another Targa 38 which was coated with a similar product I’ve spoken to Ben Metcalfe from Landau UK who applied the Silic One to his father’s Jeanneau. He says that any increase in boat speed was negligible. That said, the NC9 is no performance boat and being brand new it didn’t have layers of old antifouling slowing it down so you might see a small increase of 1-2 knots on your Targa 38, but I wouldn’t bank on it. I’m also suspicious of that 42-knot figure – we only managed 36 knots when we tested a brand new Targa 38 on D6-310s.
