A Sojourn to Sumptuous Sotogrande

Around the world, there are golfing focal points on most must-visit wish-lists: St Andrews in the UK and Pinehurst in the USA, for example. On continental Europe, the name sticking out is Sotogrande on Spain’s Costa del Sol. Despite 15 years as a golf journalist I’d never made it there to sample the tremendous golf, famous hospitality and wonderful food I’d heard so much about. So, when I was offered the chance to visit this spring, I jumped at it.

After flying British Airways into Gibraltar from Heathrow, an interesting experience in itself, it’s only a 20-minute drive to Sotogrande, where we were staying in the marvellous Villa Oasis; a luxurious property on the resort’s Calle Granada.
