Joggers, drainpipes, snoods, cardigans, ties – we’ve seen a wide range of different looks on the course in recent years. While some fashion trends are questionable – let’s just say hoodies and high tops – new technologies and modern fabrics have helped today’s golfer get even more from their game. The evolution of golf fashion over the last 150 years has been fascinating, no matter what your view on skinny chinos.

Two years ago, Justin Thomas set tongues wagging at The Open with his Gatsby-esque Polo Ralph Lauren outfit – a nod to the era of gentlemanly dressing for sports. Going back further, for the game’s early professionals braving the exposed Scottish links, heavy duty jackets and tweed trousers were the order of the day.
