My father took me rail bird hunting in the marshes of southern New Jersey when I was 10 or 11 years old. The trip was not only fun and a great way to spend time with him, but also a huge confidence booster for my wingshooting ability. T. Edward Nickens’ story “Off the Rails” brought back a cherished memory.
