LNER bids farewell to HSTs

BY the time you read this, the era of East Coast HSTs out of King’s Cross to the North of England and Scotland will almost be over, with just the farewell tour due to run after more than 40 years of service on the route.

HSTs were first introduced to the Western Region out of Paddington in 1976 (as 2+7 Class 253 sets), with the Eastern Region out of King’s Cross coming the year after (as 2+8 Class 254 sets). A
