Flavio Manzoni is affable and softly spoken, extremely humble despite many accolades, and a man of impeccable style. Nine years ago he was tasked with creating Ferrari’s in-house design centre and setting the company’s design direction. It was not a task for the faint of heart given Ferrari’s deep, rich racing history, the iconic models past and present, and the marque’s fanatics. Fast-forward to today and we can clearly see evidence of Manzoni’s genius. He has a clear vision and is arguably one of the most influential creative minds working today. The Rake was honoured to spend some time with the man responsible for steering Ferrari’s visual identity into the future.
You started with Ferrari as Design Director in January 2010 with a team of four people. Today you are managing a team of more than 120. Did you ever imagine it would evolve in such a way?
