Scott Redding became the first rookie to win the British Superbike Championship, doing it in the most professional and methodical fashion.

For a rider who very nearly walked away from the sport at the end of a distinguished, but diminishing GP career, he re-invented himself and became a firm fan favourite along the way.

Some said he’d fail miserably on the UK tracks, but he went about his business from day one and set standards which other riders had to match. Eleven wins and nine podiums later, on mostly tracks he’d never seen before, told its own story and clinching the title at his first attempt was the stuff of fairytales.
