Electrification woes

ON READING this news item – Sir Peter Hendy’s comments – I am filled with deep depression.

Why, oh why, are we British so utterly pathetic where rail electrification is concerned, given that ALMOST ALL the major rail lines in Europe are electrified, and more are being wired at the present time.
