WSR to Budapest: prairie all set for its longest journey

THE Flour Mill's newly restored GWR prairie No 5521 may spend a year or more on the continent after its appearance at the big West Somerset Railway spring steam gala.

A veteran of the Minehead branch from the steam era, No 5521 – recently restored to running order at Bill Parker’s Flour Mill workshop at Bream in the Forest of Dean and just fitted with a continental-style air pump – is due to be shipped from Hull on 4 April.

It will arrive in Helsinki on 8 April, and continue its voyage the following day, arriving at
