BUICK TO BASICS

Looking at this stunning 1941 Buick, it’s hard to believe this is the base model of those offered that year. It’s equally unbelievable that two years ago the car had the entire nearside smashed in, as owner Glyn Olden relates. “I’d had my Buick just five days,” he explains, “a car came out of a side junction without stopping, hit my nearside front wing and went all down the side of the Buick. It looked bad enough, but then I realised it had shunted everything out of place.” Once Glyn convinced his insurance company to agree not to write off the car, Peels Motorkraft in Bristol (01179 351 661/www. peelsmotorkraft.co.uk) got the task of straightening out the bodywork. “They were great, I can’t recommend them highly enough, Martin at Peels did a brilliant job.
