Personal touches, attention to details and clever tips are all you need to make your interiors ready for the festive season.

Want to dress your space for a modern, understated and minimal Diwali? Take cues from global styles and quintessential Indian elements for a festival-ready home that blends the old with the new in a moody mix. Here's what you need to do.

INSPIRED BY BRASS I took inspiration from brass, which is almost always used in festive homes, and spray painted a few modern candle stands with antique-brassy gold. Mason jars were also spray painted and grouped together with a lantern in the same shade to create that perfect festive tablescape. Doing this will definitely brighten the table, but to make it truly spark joy, opt for recycled bottles and group flowers. Use mismatched plates and flowers as place cards. Make it moody and whimsical. Try and group things of varying heights to add a dimension to the table. If everything is the same height, it is likely to look flat and linear.
