In the second half of the 1990s, Olympus devoted most of its attention to its popular compact cameras that used 35mm and APS film. However, it also began to dabble in the nascent digital imaging technology that was just starting to filter through to consumers. Its first digital cameras appeared in the second half of 1996: the Camedia D-200L and D-300L used the same body, but the latter delivered 1024x 768px image files, compared to the D-200L’s 640x480 VGA resolution.
