Project Kawasaki ZXR750J Classic Racer part 2 Sorting the shed!

When I bought this bike last month I had no idea of the man hours that it was going to take to get the thing up to scratch and ready for the 2019 Classic Superbike TT.

It’s been a complete eyesore in my old man’s workshop for the past four weeks and, if truth be known, with work commitments and a week competing in the Ulster GP at a crucial time in the build, there have been one or two occasions when I’ve regretted getting involved with it. But we never faltered, and with a lot of help from George (the old boy), his partner in crime, Ian, and my Uncle Bob, we’ve got the thing looking like an actual motorbike that (hopefully) won’t embarrass itself too much on the Isle of Man.

But it’s taken some graft. The first thing we tackled was the fuelling; we wanted to make sure the thing would actually run properly before we started ripping it to bits. For some unknown reason, the previous owner had taken a hacksaw to the loom and chopped through the earth to the fuel pump, so just to get the pump to do anything, we had to rig up a makeshift
