Steam underlines triumphant return of wrecked Conwy Valley Line

IT was a case of little greets large as a double-headed steam special ran over the Conwy Valley line to celebrate both its reopening and the start of the National Eisteddfod, drawing crowds at every stop.

LMS Stanier 8F No. 48151 and‘Jubilee’ No. led the special, organised by Network Rail and Transport for Wales Rail Services and operated by West Coast Railways, that set out from Chester and ran over the full 28-miles of the scenic branch from Llandudno Junction to Blaenau Ffestiniog, carrying the headboard‘Rheilffordd Dyffryn Conwy’.
