Gresley V4 new-build: first new components delivered to Darlington Locomotive Works

THE first newly-manufactured components for what is set to become Darlington’s next major steam locomotive-building project, have been delivered.

The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust (A1SLT), the registered charity which built and operates 101mph Peppercorn A1 Pacific No. 60163 and is constructing what is set to be Britain’s most powerful steam locomotive in Gresley P2 2-8-2 No. 2007 , announced in early August that it had taken delivery of parts it had commissioned for its third new steam-built project, the £3 million LNER V4 2-6-2 No. 3403.
