I feel that owning and riding a classic bike gives me a proper ‘seat of the pants’ riding experience without the need for ABS, traction control, electronic throttles or a multi-coloured LCD dash.
When I ride my 1970s two-strokes they feel crisp and raw; they respond to my input directly, without the need for a computer. There is rarely a boring moment because I am constantly connected to the bike listening to the engine... ‘Was that noise there earlier? Is that tick getting louder?’, and when I park up I look for drips and leaks. I get the same feeling when working on and maintaining my classic bikes.
