OLDER GENERATIONS

The first generation of Busa was built from 1999 until 2007 and came with a 1298cc motor. From 2000 onwards the engine was restricted to 300kph (186mph) and there was also alteration to its subframe due to a few high-profile failures after the OE exhausts (which act as supports) were swapped for aftermarket items by owners.

DERESTRICTION

There are a few ways to derestrict a Busa and as well as removing the 186mph limit, it can also increase the bike’s power in lower gears. You can either opt for an ECU re-flash, which is a one-way process and some find concerning, or fit a Timing Retard Eliminator (TRE), which is a simple plug and play unit that costs roughly £100.
