Once upon a time, sport utility vehicles were essentially covered pick-ups. If you’ve ever driven something like a late Sixties Chevy Blazer or Ford Bronco, you’ll find it’s decidedly utilitarian in original trim. Today, your average sport utility is essentially a passenger car on stilts. It features unibody construction, primarily front-wheel-drive architecture and boasts very limited off-road prowess and towing capacity.
