Bangs and Balance!
The strangest thing happened to one of my bikes the other day. I was riding down to Sammy Miller’s Museum with my sons Sam and Stephen and we had just stopped at a junction when there was a loud bang like a 12-bore shotgun being fired.
We looked at each other in amazement, wondering where it had come from, then I looked down at the 1970 Kawasaki H1 500 that Stephen was riding and noticed a hole in the top of the crankcases near the left-hand carb! The edges were ragged and sharp. “Could this have been anything to do with the bang?” I thought to myself, then I realised that maybe the left-hand crankshaft seal was leaking slightly
