I recently followed an interesting Facebook thread regarding tyre pressures in the Tankwa. Some people were sure that you have to air down, and others claimed that they had never aired down and had never had a puncture. Needless to say, it spilled over into a debate about tyre manufacturers, and which one is best. The question is: who do you/ should you believe when asking for advice on your 4x4?

When I got my Jeep in 2016, I was new to the 4x4 scene and I had a lot of questions. I still do. The good news is that an answer is never hard to find, what with Google, 4x4 Forums and magazines, Youtube videos, Facebook pages and WhatsApp groups. The bad news is, if you look deep enough, you will find five or six answers to the same question.

Take this example. Frikkie asks: What tyre pressure should I run my 4x4 at? Billy replies: 1.3bar. Frikkie is new to 4x4ing and gladly accepts this advice and thanks Billy for the advice. Then Johnny sees the question and replies, 0.8bar. Who is Frikkie to believe now? Neither Billy nor
