Priyanka's entry has energised the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, turning what was billed as a big fight between the BJP and the grand alliance into a triangular contest

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the Congress got 5 per cent or less votes in 38 of the 80 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. In another 14 seats, it polled 10 per cent or less votes. This would suggest that the decision to keep the Congress out won't significantly impact the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance in the state this time.
