I have enjoyed the educated, informed and insightful work of Roger Hicks for over 20 years. His is always the first page I turn to, upon receiving my copy of AP. He has made me think differently about everything. Not just photography but people, perceptions and possibilities. It has been a privilege to be able to read his columns. They will be sadly missed. Thank you, Roger. You've made a real difference to my world.

Roger has been one of my inspirations for many years and I have some of his books for reference. His opinions may not always have been popular with a few readers, but they were always based on his and Frances's (his wife) experience. In some of his articles he gave sage advice, and I wish that I had followed some of it. He once said that you shouldn't be buying new or different equipment until you found that your current gear could not
