Nikon F5

BACK in the days of film, I used to shoot with a couple of somewhat beaten-up, old Nikon F4 cameras. They were bought second-hand, and were well worn. One needed the shutter mechanism replaced in the middle of a long trip to Thailand, and both had the rubbers barely hanging on.

After getting a commission from magazine to shoot the Maha Kumbh Mela in 2001, I decided to get the older F4 serviced at Fixation. I was quoted £350 for the service, but offered a serviced second-hand F5 for £525. I loved the F5: for me it represents the best camera that Nikon has ever made.
