FINAL WAVERLEY FREIGHT: The daily freight from Millerhill to Hawick, the final working over the northern half of the Waverley Route, ended on April 25. The last train was hauled by Class 17 No. 8606, although motive power for the trip in the three months since the through route between Carlisle and Edinburgh closed included Classes 25, 26 and 40.
