Space Coupe

BACK in ‘63 Bill Cushenberry sat down at a booth at the Bob’s Big Boy in Toluca Lake, California, and began to sketch a low-slung custom, inspired by aeroplanes and streamliners. The radical and futuristic design featured fins and wings and uninterrupted surfaces and a bubbletop. He wanted the car to look like a jet, so the Silhouette II Space Coupe was born. Under the svelte skin is a Corvair drivetrain. The car has a checkered history and is currently in the final stages of restoration. Ex-pat Kiwi Paul Adams may be painting it.
