FB: What is the idea behind an engine refresh, and why is it so important?

NM: Well, at the end of the day there are two underlying reasons. Firstly, it’s about preventative maintenance and addressing problems internally before they spiral out of control and go bang, causing bigger issues, and costing a lot more money. It’s better to change something little than throw a rod through the casing! Secondly, obviously depending on the discipline, it’s to keep the performance of the engine at its optimum.
