East West Rail public inquiry underway

A 12-WEEK public inquiry into the central phase of the East West Railway (EWR) link between Oxford and Bedford started on February 6.

Planning inspectors are listening to EWR’s proposals for the railway, which includes the reinstatement of the mothballed line between Claydon Junction, near Bicester, and Bletchley, and assessing them against any objections from other parties.

If the plans are accepted, the project will be recommended to the Secretary of State for Transport for a Transport & Works Order, allowing construction work to begin.
