> 2-3 Drag Racing Reunion at Taupo. Attention all drag racers, crew members and supporters over 71 years of age who participated at Champion Dragway and Thunder Park Raceway before 1980. We hope you’ve got you travel and accommodation arranged for the pre 1980s Drag Racers Reunion in Taupo. Already some 80 people have booked for the dinner on the Saturday night. The hotel manager, John McNaughton, has advised that we may mount photos on the walls for the occasion. You will need to bring your own blue-tack as no pins, tape, nails, Velcro, etc., can be used on the walls. Also no photos of pets or Grandma’s tattoos… just cool stuff that relates to pre 1980 drags that will make us wonder if that’s what we really looked like 40 plus years ago! We are told that the Grandeur Thermal Spa Resort has been booked out but there are plenty of accommodation options still available in the Taupo area. As before, there’s a heap of people we don’t have an e-mail address for so please feel free to circulate this to anyone who was actively involved in the sport prior to 1980.
