Pet waste

When I walk my dog around our local Sydney waterway, I see mangroves choked with plastic water bottles, straws, plastic shopping bags and plastic poo bags. Some people seem to think it’s OK to collect their dog’s poo in a black poo bag, tie a knot and leave it near the water. This contaminates the water with plastic waste, as well as dog faeces.

Thanks to the excellent ABC, we are all now aware of the issues of plastics contaminating our marine environment and how we need to be mindful of not only the plastic we use but how we dispose of it. It’s also not ideal to have pet waste accumulating around the foreshore where people may be walking or dogs swimming.
