Backstage at the BAFTAs

‘I do a lot of stalking and waiting for people to move into the light’

On the morning of Monday 11 February, London will play host to some very sore heads indeed. The great, good and glamorous of the film world will have been up all night, celebrating their successes or drowning their sorrows after the annual EE British Academy Film Awards (the BAFTAs, to you and me). Among them, likely to be looking a shell of the woman she was 24 hours earlier, will be Sarah Lee. But the hollow eyes and exhausted gait won’t be a result of over-indulging on the finest champagne. It’ll be because she’ll have spent the afternoon, evening and night photographing the event, and then – while others were calling their taxis – editing and processing, before finally delivering a selection of images to the offices of The Guardian .
