When you pick up your knitting needles, have you ever stopped and wondered how knitting wool came about? How did the manufacturer get different thicknesses?
The story of wool is thought to have begun in Asia Minor during the Stone Age about 10,000 years ago. Sheep were used by primitive man for food, shelter and clothing, and man gradually learnt to spin and weave. This new technique became part of the riches of Egypt, Nineveh, Peru, early Britain and Babylon and spread to become part of the Persian, Greek and Roman way of life.
