Sewing Room Supplies - Part 1

Cutting

I don’t do a huge amount of sewing (and therefore cutting), so I haven’t gone the rotary cutter route (though I did use one years ago when I was working on a piping article for Threads Magazine. I did have to make miles of little bias strips. Perfect use for a rotary cutter). If I did more cutting, I’d probably use one regularly, but in the meantime, I rely on fabulous scissors. The following are essential:

• 4in large-handled embroidery scissors, by Gingher. I work with lace a lot, so these are perfect for making sharp cuts. Nothing’s worse than not getting a clean cut, whether you’re trimming lace or cutting into the corners
