Swede days from 1966

It was good to see the archive piece on the 1966 ISDT with the ‘meet the teams’ gathering at Fenny Drayton where there was quite a buzz of anticipation for our attempt that year. We’d had a chance to try our bikes in ISDT-type conditions in Wales a couple of months before going to Sweden and I felt we had machinery and the back-up worth the trip. In the end we lost out by fractions of a second in times, but still a decent showing which boded well for the next year in Poland.

On a personal note, I finished as Britain’s highest scorer in the special tests and the final day’s speed test at Karlskoga on the Gallerasen circuit
