Shaken, not stirred

Phillip Jones knows his way around a benchtop. He lays his ingredients and equipment out as neatly as one would find at the Australian Barista Championships. As Phillip begins to prepare his coffee cocktails, his hand gestures are swift and precise, and his presentation is fluid and engaging.

His final drinks look indulgent, and the crowd support is rapturous. But Phillip isn’t a barista, and he admits he’s “no expert” at making coffee. He is, however, one of Adelaide’s finest bartenders, and a “sometimes” coffee drinker, who competed in the Baristas vs Bartenders competition, hosted by MilkLab and Mr Black Spirits Co.
