The latest Photokina trade show, which took place in Germany for five days late in September, served as a roadmap to the future of cameras and associated equipment. Attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world and roughly a thousand exhibitors, Photokina is an ideal place to assess market trends.

Statistical data released at Photokina by a number of global sources shows photography is undergoing dramatic changes. Serious photographers may not like these changes, but we must all be aware of them as they are changing the kinds of equipment we can choose and the ways we share our pictures.
