Late spring steam action large and small

AFTER a fairly quiet April, May sees a variety of steam events for enthusiasts of different gauges.

The 15 inch gauge railways have a growing following and both the major lines of this gauge have events during the month. The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway launches its‘Train from Spain’with an impressive supporting cast of engines and at the other end of the country, the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway can always be relied on to stage a gala event with a difference.

Moving up to 2ft gauge, the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway will be steaming all of its engines, including recently-completed 2-4-2T Lyn for its gala weekend in May.
