STARTING OFF SEEDS

There is no doubt that seed sown direct in the ground often results in stronger, sturdier plants that go on to crop well. However, if you only have a small plot where every plant counts, it can often make sense to start seeds in containers first. This gives them a better chance of survival and, where necessary, allows the use of a warm propagator to get them to germinate.
