Any Chevelle SS 396 is no slouch when it comes to performance, but you can always go faster. Take Guy King’s 1966 Chevelle, for example. “About 15 years ago I sold my red 1970 Chevelle SS 396 in order to start a farming business,” explains Guy. “I always said I’d get another Chevelle, but once the business was successful I ended up buying a 1968 GTO and restoring it as a street/strip car with a 462cu in V8. Idrag raced it at Santa Pod and the GTO appeared in Classic American under the headline, ‘Flying Farmer.’
“The best time it ran on the dragstrip was 11.99secs at 120mph, I used to drive it there, race, then drive it home but before long my wife Natalie and I had a baby on the way.
