In my opinion towards the end of the Seventies American automobile design took a dive, plunging the industry into astyling malaise that did not improve for about a decade. Probably the only exception was the Pontiac Motor Division, the makers of the two-door sporty Firebird, which still offered outstanding design, really cool looks and power plants to match those unequivocal lines.
