WHEN YOU WORK FROM HOME, AS I DO,YOU SPEND A LOT OF TIME PROCRASTINATING.

Much of that is spent looking out the window in a dwaal. Over time, via sensory osmosis you become finely attuned to the rhythms of life around you. I’m familiar with the morning traffic (bass notes provided by MyCiti buses), the sea fog creeping over the saddle between Signal Hill and Lion’s Head, the geese in the stone pines nearby, and school-run mothers shouting, “WILLYOUSTOPHITTINGYOUR BROTHER!”
